Kalyan Kaur is a KPJAYI level 2 ashtanga yoga teacher, being authorised to teach the full intermediate series. Kalyan returns to Mysore annually to study with Paramguru Sharath Jois and practises with her teacher Hamish Hendry whenever in London. She is also a yin yoga teacher and TMI yoga therapist for mental health.

Kalyan has trained with the two main proponents of Yin Yoga: Paul Grilley and Sarah Powers. She flew to Chicago to study anatomy, physiology and the theory and practice of Yin Yoga with Paul Grilley. Later Kalyan studied with Sarah Powers in London combining Yin Yoga, mindfulness, Taoist and Buddhist philosophy with meridian theory. She began teaching in Edmonton, Canada at the Yoga Loft and in a treatment centre for women suffering with eating disorders. After returning to the UK in December 2008, Kalyan began teaching Yin in Essex.

Yin is a beautiful blend of long-held traditional Hatha postures, Meridian Theory and Taoist Philosophy. This deeply grounding practice opens up the hips, pelvis and lower back whilst working with the energy body in a similar way to acupuncture. It is a perfect complement to more yang forms of exercise such as running, swimming, weight lifting, power yoga, Ashtanga yoga or a busy hectic lifestyle. Whilst in Nicosia, Kalyan will be offering two-hour yin yoga classes on Friday evenings. Each class will focus on a different organ-meridian pairing and will close with a deep relaxation/yoga nidra/meditation. No experience is necessary and all are welcome.
